Lars’ Reflections: Walking Tall Amongst the Ashes

To Our Dear Community of Makers, Creators, Design-Enthusiasts, and Friends,

It's been our honor to work with Harbin Hot Springs -- a North Bay, California institution synonymous with relaxation, unplugging from the world, magical settings, and therapeutic waters  -- as it recovers and rebuilds from the devastation of the 2015 Valley Fire that burned nearly all its infrastructure and 10,000 acres.

The utter destruction of the fire provided the opportunity to re-conceive and define new ways that express the founding principles of community, inclusivity, and interconnectivity.  Celebrating the spirit of restorative healing, where new construction meets sacred ground, the design process allowed Harbin to reimagine the modern retreat.

Something about the process?  Design changes?  Time line challenges?  Materials they wanted to celebrate? How did the designs differ from what was there before?

Harbin has stepped up to the challenge and is now open!   Please join us as we celebrate Harbin in walking tall in the face of adversity on the long road to recovery.

Sincerely,
Lars
