As the awareness of climate change and its effects grow every day, we know the building industry plays a big part, both in the problem, and in finding solutions. Our commitment increases as well, to educate ourselves and inspire our clients to make the right choices. This includes reconfirming age-old techniques, incorporating new tools and technologies, and seeking out partners and resources to help inform our work. The image above is part of a library that tracks the carbon footprint of various building materials; our other efforts include:

• Maximizing the use of passive design techniques through proper site planning and orientation for solar and prevailing breezes 

• Incorporating energy modeling in the design process

• Reporting our designs into the Architecture 2030 challenge website, which strives to make new buildings carbon neutral by the year 2030

• Supporting design with upfront cost vs. long term ROI information

• Reducing reliance on off-site utilities
